Description
View of facade, including trees in yard and sidewalk in front, of prison located at 10th and Reed Streets. Architect Thomas Ustick Walter designed the building, which was built from 1832 to 1835 and demolished 1968. It is also known as Philadelphia County Prison.
Notes
Photographer's manuscript note on verso: Moyamensing prison, sometimes called the "11" St Dock", the jug, the county hotel, etc. Reminds one of the mediaeval days of castles, barons, and sieges. Casselated.
