Description
Course certificate from the University of Pennsylvania containing a portrait of the physician and founder of modern human anatomy, Andreas Vesalius, above the text. Vesalius stands and places his left hand on the arm of the corpse of a man laid on the table in the right. His right hand moves to grasp a scalpel on the table in the left. Books and papers, surgical instruments, and a human skull are visible around the room. A crucifix hangs on the wall.
