Description |
Engraving illustrates an episode described in Chapter 13 of Edward's volume, "A Tour through the Several Islands of Barbadoes,
St. Vincent, Antigua, Tobago, and Grenada, in the Years 1791, and 1792." The chapter was written by Sir William Young, the
owner of the painting upon which this engraving is based. Set on the island of St. Vincent, the engraving shows Chatoyer,
the chief of the black Charaibes, and his five wives.
