Description
Glass negative showing Bruner and George Livery, a two-story stone building at 5434 Germantown Avenue. An alleyway runs down the left side of the building. The building has two chimneys, shuttered windows, a wooden fence extending from the right side, and a sign reading, "Bruner and George Livery 4774, Branch of Stables [4934?] Office Door Back." Other similar buildings continue to line the street in the distance. Bruner and George were a livery and boarding stables in Germantown, Philadelphia owned by Henry B. Bruner and Riter W. George. The business existed from circa 1858 to circa 1918. This property at 5434 Germantown Avenue was owned by William Ashmead, a wagon manufacturer, after the American Revolution. Elliston Perot Morris bought the building in 1907.
