Description
View looking north from the old mill house at the Fairmount Water Works on the Schuylkill River. Shows the new mill house built between 1860 and 1862 on the mound dam after the designs of Philadelphia engineer Henry P.M. Birkinbine. The waterworks, originally constructed between 1812 and 1822 after the designs of Philadelphia engineer Frederick Graff, were altered and expanded until 1872.
