Description
Exterior view of the studio located on the south side of Chestnut Street between 7th and 8th Streets showing the two daguerreotypists posed in a large open window with a camera and screens. View also shows the lower tenant, Joseph S. Natt's looking glass shop; partial views of adjacent businesses, including a fancy goods store (180 and 184 Chestnut); and displays of merchandise in the shop windows. The partnership between James E. McClees and Washington Lafayette Germon lasted from 1846 to 1855, and was located at this address from 1851 to 1853.
