Description
Invitation containing vignette scenes and pictorial and ornate border details. Vignettes scenes depict the figure of liberty with the American eagle and shield; a sailor and farmer in conversation, and couples dancing in a ballroom. Details include a hand pump fire engine; clasped hands; and filigree. Hand-in-Hand Fire Company, one of the city’s first volunteer fire companies, was organized on March 1, 1741 or 1742.
