Description Exterior view of facade of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church from the southwest corner of Broad and Diamond Streets, including stained glass windows and spired roof. Automobile and pedestrian traffic along the street are visible in the foreground, including a policeman standing at the intersection's stop sign. Church was designed by architect Theophilus Parsons Chandler, Jr. and built from 1887-1889. Additions and alterations were made to the building in 1915 after designs by architects Furness, Evans & Co.
Notes Photographer's manuscript note on verso: Church - Broad and Diamond Sts. An interesting and somewhat attractive style of architecture. Creates a Russian atmosphere but the boldness of the Russian style as well as its solodity [sic] is softened by the Gothic windows. (find out denomination, cost, and seating capacity. Fill in a few clouds.). French Gothic.
