Notes Joseph Reed was discharged from the 106th Regiment Infantry March 31, 1863. Capt. Egbert and Lt. Ottinger led Company G of the 59th Infantry Regiment in the Pennsylvania Militia during the crisis of 1863, but Lt. Reed was not involved with the regiment, which was under the command of George P. McLean. Capt. Egbert was promoted to Major Jan. 13, 1864. Cf. S.P. Bates. History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, v. 3, p. 846, and v. 5, p. 131 and 1312.
