Description
Depicts the Old Academy building on the west side of Fourth Street below Arch Street built in 1749. The school underwent several name changes from the Old Academy in 1749, the College of Philadelphia in 1753 and the University in 1779. When the University of Pennsylvania outgrew the building at Fourth and Arch Streets, the main campus moved to Ninth and Chestnut Streets. Also includes an unidentified red brick building (right), pedestrians and a horse and carriage.
