Description |
View of the double bronze doors in the west entrance of the Capitol building. They were designed by Joseph M. Huston, modeled
by Otto Jahnson, and cast by the Henry-Bonnard Bronze Company. A medallion of William Penn, copied from an engraving by S.A.
Schoff, and two lunettes, sit above four panels depicting the Declaration of Independence, the Signing of the Constitution,
and the natural resources of the State. The two medallions in the middle represent History and Education. The design of the
doors purportedly followed the precedent set by Lorenzo Ghiberti's door of the Baptistry in Florence, Italy.
