Description |
Half-length portrait of the abolitionist Senator from Ohio. Wade, attired in a white collared shirt, a black bowtie, a waistcoat,
and a jacket, sits in a wooden chair and faces left. Wade fought for the repeal of the Fugitive Slave Act, was a partisan
of the 14th Amendment, and was a supporter of the Freedman's Bureau and numerous civil rights bills.
