Recruiting began for the 58th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers in the fall of 1861, and the regiment was formed Feb.
13, 1862; it was mustered out of service in Jan. 24, 1866; Col. Jones was killed at Bachelor's Creek Station, N.C. May 23,
