Description
Satiric carte de visite of a reproduction of a drawing of the New York island fort opposite Fort Hamilton used a a prison during the Civil War. Includes a boat of prisoners being rowed to the facility. The fort, completed circa 1818, was the first Northern location to receive prisoners of war in July 1861. Fort was razed in 1960.
