Description Photographic reproduction of a caricature of William Seward, the Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln. Shows Seward with a vest and coat, wings, and a toga skirt. He holds a sword. Also includes a caricature of Napoleon III in "Mexico" in the background. Seward threatened American intervention against the puppet government installed in Mexico by France in 1864.
