The first floor houses a shop with some of its wares displayed outside. A horse-drawn cart stands on the street in front of the building. James De la Plaine settled in Germantown in 1691. Before his death in 1750, he built a house. It was afterward owned by E.B. Paramore and used as a corner store before the Germantown Mutual Fire Insurance Company bought the property in 1885.
