Description
View showing the Promontory Rock Tunnel, bored in 1871, on East River Drive (Kelly Drive) between the New York Connecting Railway Bridge and the Girard Avenue Bridge in East Fairmount Park. Includes views of segments of the two Pennsylvania Railroad bridges spanning the Schuylkill River. The Connecting Railway bridge was completed in 1867 after the designs of John A. Wilson. The Girard Avenue Bridge was completed in 1875 after the designs of Henry A. and James P. Sims.
