Description
Half-length portrait of the mathematician, professor, and author. Adrain, attired in a white shirt and scholarly black robes, faces the viewer with his right hand on an open book. Adrain was born in Ireland and left due to his revolutionary beliefs. He taught at Queens College (later Rutgers), Columbia, and University of Pennsylvania where for a short while he was also Vice-Provost.
