Description View showing a partial view of the front facade of Founder's Hall constructed 1833-1847 in the Greek Revival Style after the designs of Philadelphia architect Thomas Ustick Walter at 1201-1211 West College Avenue. Also shows a group of woman standing in the doorway of the building. Girard College was established through a bequest from Stephen Girard, a Philadelphia financier and philanthropist, for the creation of a school for "poor white orphans."
