Description
View showing the north side of the 700 block of Chestnut Street. Businesses include: Joseph Monier, bookbinder and printer (Chestnut and Seventh); Washington Hotel (711 Chestnut); and the Masonic Hall (713-721 Chestnut), built 1853-1855 after the designs of Sloan & Stewart and razed by fire in 1886. Also includes partial view of Girard Fire Insurance Company (639 Chestnut) and signage for the The One Dollar Store, variety store, on the south side of the block.
