Description
View of the first grist mill in Philadelphia built in 1683 by Richard Townsend in Germantown at Church Lane and Wingohocking Street. Named for its early 19th-century owner, Hugh Roberts, the mill was razed in 1873. Shows the wheelhouse, waterfall, and stone wall of the mill. Five boys and men sit on the wall.
