Description
Playing card containing vignette portraits of George and Martha Washington, the American eagle and shield, and the ace of spades. Also includes banners, stars, and vinery. Samuel Hart & Co. began the manufacture of playing cards in Philadelphia and New York in 1849. George & Martha Washington Aces of Spades was one of the firm's most popular designs, with at least five different versions issued until after 1900.
