Image of several boys in a classroom holding slates in front of them; most look ahead but the boy in the foreground grasps his slate loosely in one hand and looks at the ground; a man stands to their side while another man on a small raised platform sits at or beside a desk; the floors of the room are wooden and there appears to be a map on the wall.
