Description Collection depicting scenes on a cotton plantation, probably in North Carolina. Images include African American men and women at work picking cotton, often amongst large piles of cotton; wooden buildings on the plantation grounds; and portraits and candids of the African American agricultural laborers and resident children.
Notes Name of provenance from manuscript note on verso of P.8502.13: John H. Gibbons, Jr., b. North Carolina, in Phila. for medical school.
