Description |
Bust-length portrait, showing the English philanthropist, politician, and abolitionist, facing slightly right, seated, and
reading a book. Wilberforce is attired in a shirt with a ruffled collar and a double-breasted jacket. He was active in the
Church Missionary Society; Society for Bettering the Condition of the Poor; and worked in Parliament to abolish the slave
trade.
