Description
Full-length portrait by an unidentified young African American girl taken by an unidentified member of the Columbia Photographic Society. The girl, attired in a long-sleeved, gingham dress and pinafore and boots, holds a toy and looks at the viewer. She stands sideways on the sidewalk of a residential street, probably in Philadelphia. Behind her is a fence and a row of houses. The Society, an amateur North Philadelphia photographer's club established in 1889, sponsored photographic outings, lantern slide shows, and published "Camera" magazine until 1953.
