Notes |
The top of the stand supports an artificial horizon with astrological notations. There is an hour circle around what would
be the North Pole. Figures of the constellations are drawn in. The inscriptions on the globe reads: “Loring’s Celestial Globe
Containing all the known stars, Nebula &c. Compiled from the various works of Wollaston, Flamstead, de La Caille, Havelius,
Mayer, Bradley, Herschel, Smith’s New English Globe. Boston, Josiah Loring, Washington St., 1841.”
