Description
View looking southeast at the Roman Catholic church built 1846-1847 after designs by Edwin Forrest Durang at Second and Jefferson Streets in Kensington. Some fashionably dressed parishioners converse on the sidewalk, while others walk in the direction of the church. Includes an enclosed yard (left), the cemetery behind the church, buildings adjacent to the church on Second Street, probably the rectory and/or convent, and a partial view of a street car travelling south on tracks running the length of Second Street. Church erected following the destruction of the first church building during the Nativist Riots on May 8, 1844.
