Description
View of the engine of the hose company instituted in 1794 that operated from Callowhill Street above Second Street. Engine contains double-decker end stroke pumper handles and panels illustrated with female figures, including a woman holding a sleeping child in her lap. A company volunteer, attired in his fire hat and uniform, holds a trumpet in one hand and rests his other on one of the pumper handles. Also contains a banner with the company motto: "Judge Us By Our Actions."
