Description
Landscape view showing the village of Manayunk along the east bank of the Schuylkill River, northwest of Philadelphia. Townscape is visible in the right of the image, including Joseph Ripka's cotton mills erected 1831, 1835, and 1853 near the depicted Flat Rock Turnpike Bridge. A rowboat sails the river and a railroad track lines the west bank. Manayunk was incorporated into the city of Philadelphia in 1854.
