Description
Shows four men chopping trees and logs on the estate west of the Schuylkill River (West Fairmount Park) purchased by legislator William Bingham in 1797. Tree stumps are visible in the foreground. The estate, originally owned by Pennsylvania governor John Penn, was bought and ceded to the city in 1866 for inclusion in Fairmount Park.
