Description
Advertisement containing a firefighting scene to promote the insurance company chartered April 2, 1860 by members of old volunteer fire departments. Shows several volunteer companies of firefighters racing past Independence Hall to a fire on the south side of Chestnut Street. In the foreground, a police officer waves to volunteers commandeering a hose carriage and horse-drawn steam engine that is chased by a dog. The hose truck is attached to a fire hydrant. In the distance, spectators run toward the fire where other firefighters use a steam engine to battle the flames.
