Description |
Winter, evening scene looking southeast from Sixth and Chestnut streets toward the State House (Independence Hall) showing
light pedestrian traffic. Pairs of men and women walk, converse, and cross the snow-covered street near Congress Hall and
the intersection. A man and woman street vendor attend their stand near a watchman's house. Also shows City Hall (500 Chestnut)
built 1790-1791 after the designs of David Evans, Jr. in the background. The State House (520 Chestnut) was built 1732-1748
after the designs of Andrew Hamilton and Edmund Woolley and Congress Hall (540-558 Chestnut) was built 1787-1789.
