Book illustration of a landscape view showing the village of Manayunk along the east bank of the Schuylkill River, northwest
of Philadelphia. Townscape is visible in the right of the image, including Joseph Ripka’s cotton mills erected 1831 and 1835
near the depicted Flat Rock Turnpike Bridge. Manayunk was incorporated into the city of Philadelphia in 1854.
