Description
Advertisement showing the four-story storefront, covered in signage at the corner of Market and Oak streets (i.e., 1300 block of Market). Signage advertises "J. Ward's Paper Warehouse," "Paper Hanging Wholesale & Retail," and "Cash Paid for Rags."Two male patrons enter two of the three entries to the storefront as a woman exits the third with a scroll in her hand. Two women, one with a girl, admire the displays of paper hangings in the showcase windows. Displays depict the Capitol building, a romantic genre scene, and still lifes. A man accompanied by a boy walk past the Oak Street side of the business. Also shows partial views of adjacent buildings. Ward tenanted the site circa 1847-circa 1849.
