Description Plate from a children's moral instruction book showing a man, his wife and their four children (two girls, a boy, and an infant in a sling at the mother's breast) dressed handsomely in their best Sunday clothes. The boy holds a book, presumably the Bible, under his right arm, and leads the group away from their home toward church, the spire of which is seen in the distance (left).

Originally accompanied by text titled "The light of the week" moralizing that the Sabbath is "like the light which his eye catches with joy" to the "weary traveller" moving through the week "with all its worldly cares and troubles".
