Here is the peaceful port of Philadelphia, as at many other harbors of our coast, there are numbers of many idle merchant
vessels of Germany, prisoners of circumstance, destined to rust at their moorings until there comes an end of the war and
its paralysis of seafaring ventures. THis sketch, from a photograph, suggests the silence and desolation which human strife
imposes upon innocent maritime investments.
