John T. French, born in Pennsylvania in July 1822, worked as a lithographer, predominately with Thomas Sinclair, in Philadelphia
ca. 1845-1852. French was first listed as a lithographer in Philadelphia directories in 1845. He produced fashion advertisements,
genre and view prints, and book illustrations. His S. A. & A. F. Ward fashion prints issued in the late 1840s received particularly
note from Peters.

French was listed in the 1850 census as a lithographer who resided in the Spring Garden Ward 3. He resided at Poplar Street
above Seventh Street with his wife Sarah (b. ca. 1823) and two children in a multi-family dwelling. At the time of his death
on March 3, 1852, he resided at 4 Clarence Row.
