Lewis Kraft, born in Germany ca. 1811, worked as a lithographer in Philadelphia by 1850. He immigrated to the United States
by 1849; the year his son Charles was born in Pennsylvania. He resided on Spruce Street in southeast Center City (Pine Ward)
with his German-born wife Wilhelmina (b. ca. 1818) and three sons William (b. ca. 1842), Julius (b. ca. 1845) and Charles
(b. ca. 1849).
