Description |
Abraham M. Lovitt, born February 1847 in England, worked as a lithographer for the Philadelphia firm Longacre & Co. about
1874 and Pfeil & Golz about 1883 and 1884. Lovitt arrived in the United States about 1869, lived in Pennsylvania by the early
1870s and relocated to New Jersey by the end of the decade. In 1874, he lived at 177 South Sixth Street (Philadelphia) and
during the 1880s, he resided at 750 Mount Vernon Street in Camden, N.J. By the 1900 census, he resided in New Brunswick, but
returned to Camden by the 1910 census. He worked as a lithographer until his death on August 17, 1919. He was buried at Arlington
Cemetery.

Lovitt married the English-born Mary (b. ca. 1844) in 1869 and with her had several children; the eldest born in Pennsylvania
ca. 1872. Lovitt was also a member of the Lithographers' Union of America and traveled to Belgium in 1880 according to New
York passenger lists.
