George Worley, born in England ca. 1819, possibly in Huntingdonshire, was a Philadelphia lithographer who specialized in maps.
By 1843, Worley resided in Philadelphia as an artist, later working as a lithographer at the map publishing establishment
of Robert Pearsall Smith ca. 1856-1859 before he became senior partner in the firm of Worley, Bracher & Matthias. He is credited
with work on the "Map of Burlington County" (Philadelphia: Smith & Wistar, 1849) with Gustavus Kramm and "Map of Greene County,
Ohio" (Philadelphia: Anthony D. Byles, 1855). Worley married Ann Thackeray in Huntingdonshire on March 14, 1841. He was naturalized
on June 3, 1863 and listed in the tax assessment lists of 1865 for tax on his income and a piano while residing at 2128 Green
Street. He died of liver disease on November 21, 1879 in Philadelphia.
