Description Seated, waist-length portrait of a middle-aged man resting one arm on a table. His body faces right, but his head is turned to look directly at the camera. He wears a jacket, vest, high-necked shirt, and checked trousers. In Philadelphia city directories in the early 1850s, the sitter, George English, was listed as a bricklayer.

Mat: Double elliptical.
