Description
Conarroe is sitting sideways facing right. Her hair is parted in the middle and pulled back, with curls hanging down on the sides. She is wearing lace gloves and her left arm is resting on a table with a patterned tablecloth. A book and a beaded purse (?) rest on the table beside her.
Notes
Cased photographs retrospective conversion project.
Pad: Purple silk.
Mat: Ornamented octagonal.
Case: Leather. Spray of roses in a square border. The design of the case is called The Delicate Roses, variant and is plate 124 in American Miniature Case Art by Floyd and Marion Rinhart (Cranbury, New Jersey: A. S. Barnes and Co., Inc., 1969.) Generally produced in large quantity, circa 1845. Same design on verso.
