Description
Bust-length hand tinted portrait of Elizabeth Lea facing very slightly left. Her white hair is styled with wide curls on either side of her face. Her lace cap is untied and the ends are resting on her shoulders.
Notes
Pad: Dark burgundy velvet. No design.
Mat: Ornamented oval.
Case: Full plate size leather with a diamond geometric design in the center. Same design on the back.
Biographical notes about and tintype of Lea (P.2006.32.8) in mourning envelope included in case. The Wenderoth, Taylor and Brown Fine Art Studio was at 912-914 Chestnut St. 1864-1866.
