Half-length portrait of the New York African Methodist Episcopal Reverend, Superintendent of the Zion Connexion of the New York and Philadelphia conferences, and the author of "A Short account of the rise and progress of the African M.E. Church in America,...(1843, republished 1866)." Rush, attired in white shirt, a black waistcoat, and a black jacket, faces the viewer.
