Description
Prospective view showing the main buildings on the exhibition grounds in West Fairmount Park. Includes Machinery Hall, Main Building, Memorial Hall, Horticultural Hall, and Agricultural Hall. Shows fair visitors on the grounds landscaped with paths, fountains, a pond, and foot bridges. George's Hill and the 24th Ward reservoir are visible in the background. In the lower right foreground, a paddleboat and ladies on a rowboat excursion on the Schuylkill river are visible. Key to buildings and building dimensions printed below the image. Several of the main exhibition buildings were built after the designs of Henry Petit, Hermann Schwarzmann, and Joseph Wilson. The Centennial Exhibition celebrated the anniversary of the United States through an international exhibition of industry, agriculture, and art.
