Description Unmounted stereograph shows various silver items exhibited in display cases on Union Avenue under a banner for "Howell & Bourke, N.E. cor. 4th & Market". Silver most likely not exhibited by Howell & Bourke, who specialized in paper hangings. Patriotic bunting, including flags and swags, hangs on the wall. The Great Central or Sanitary Fair held June 7-28, 1864 on Logan Circle was one of several national fairs that displayed art, craft, and historical exhibits to benefit the U.S. Sanitary Commission, a soldier relief organization.
