- Advertisement showing the exterior of the furniture warerooms near Christ Church (22-34 N. 2nd St.). Clusters of people admire the furniture displayed in the windows of the storefront as patrons enter the building. The store is heavily adorned with signage and an American flag. Men, women, and children, including a man pushing a handcart, walk on the bustling sidewalk. A woman with a girl, and a delivery boy, cross the street near the "No. 21 Exchange & Richmond" streetcar, a "H. Adolph" delivery wagon, and another laborer pushing a handcart. Many of the women carry parasols. Also shows the gated, tree-lined promenade between the church and warerooms., Philadelphia on Stone, POS 347, Atwater Kent Museum: 47.33.7/3. With manuscripts notes giving date as June 1861 and indicating that the print formerly belonged to John A. She holds a map which reads "North America," and an American flag, over the globe. In the background, locomotives travel over the landscape that also includes a railroad bridge spanning a river. Ketterlinus was one of the earliest Philadelphia lithographers to produce stock cards, and embossed and colored mercantile labels. - Book advertisement containing an ornate border surrounding vignette views of the exterior of "Jacob Haehnlen's Lithographic Establishment" and a trompe l'oeil display of overlapping cards with advertising text and types of prints available from the firm. View shows the six-story brownstone and print shop, "Goldmsith Hall," owned by lithographer Haehnlen at 420 Library Street. Signage advertising "J. Haehnlen's Steam Power Printing Rooms" and "J. Haehnlen's Lithographic Rooms" adorn the side of the building in addition to large display windows and an eagle above the entranceway. Also shows street and pedestrian traffic, including a horse-drawn carriage, dray, and cart traveling in the street. Printing sample vignette includes the lithographer's tradecard atop cards advertising tickets; bills of lading; wine, liquor, perfumers, physician's and druggist's labels; "Borders & Titles for Photographic Albums"; diplomas, "Certificates Stock and Deposit;" letter heads; bonds; blanks; show cards; plans; circular cards; checks, notes, and drafts. Haehnlen established his own studio at Goldsmith's Hall in 1866 and operated his business from all but the first floor. - Discrepant news print showing a battle scene from the second series of anti-Catholic riots in Philadelphia in July 1844 that stemmed from the defensive arming of St. Philip de Neri Catholic Church in preparation of a July 4 Nativist party parade. Shows the melee around the city militia under attack from the Protestant rioters depicted as gentlemen in top hats and coats. In the foreground, a rioter picks up a brick as his compatriots fire at a charging band of militiamen near an illuminated lamppost. One soldier lays fallen on the ground as a rioter collapses over him. To the right, a mother flees with her children as men fight hand-to-hand in front of a group of onlookers. The crowd watches another band of militia attempt to guard the targeted Catholic church that is marked "I.H.S. A.D., 1840." In the background, rioters and the militia fire cannons at one another. In actuality, rioters gained control and set the church on fire by the morning of July 7, causing the militia to try and clear a neighboring street on which the combat and cannon fire occurred. Many of the images include victorious military leaders in addition to celebratory crowds. Other vignette views show street and pedestrian traffic in front of "Independence Hall or State House, Phila." and "The Memorial Building or "Art Gallery," Phila." Also contains the figure of America; an American eagle; a bee hive icon for "Agriculture" and train icon for "Mechanics"; Native American figures incorporated into the border; and banners reading "Great World Fair" and "Industry of All Nations." Several well-dressed parishioners of all ages approach the church from the sidewalk and walk down the path to the entrance.
