Contains an anachronistic scene including a caricaturized depiction of Dutch Director General of the colony New Netherland (later New York) Peter Stuyvesant. Depicts the peg-legged Stuyvesant promoting an Enterprise sausage stuffer to two of the colony's elite citizens. A servant operates the machine. A strand of encased sausage flows into a large bowl. Also contains a view of the Art Gallery designed by Charles B. Atwood. A boat floats in the foreground. Designed by Moses Jacob Ezekiel in 1876 in honor of the Centennial anniversary. - Description
- Pictorial envelope designed by Sesqui-centennial committee members Samuel Dilbert, W. Morris Deischer and Howard L. Boas containing a menagerie of imagery bordering two vignettes. Vignettes depict a view of the Reading "Court House, 1782-1841" and a view captioned "1748" showing Native Americans near a teepee watching a traveling Conestoga wagon from across a river. Other images show a locomotive, factories, train shed, and a winged female allegorical figure holding a trumpet and bolt of lightning, probably representing progress. An anvil, gear, and angle rest at the figure's feet. Over 700, 000 envelopes were printed and distributed nationally. - Exterior view of front facade of the colonial mansion, Laurel Hill located on Edgeley Drive at the corner of Fairmoutn Avenue. The central portion of the house was built circa 1767, the single story addition circa 1800 and the octagonal wing after 1837. Built for Rebecca Rawle and her second husband, Samuel Shoemaker. The house was purchased by physician Philip Syng Physick in 1828 and it passed to Physick's daughter Sarah Randolph who in turn sold it to the Fairmount Park Commission in 1869. Original school buildings located at 4th and Arch Streets, then moved into the Presidential Mansion at 9th and Chestnut Streets in 1802.
