People walk between the carriages toward the shoreline and a series of buildings are visible in the distance. Jersey Wash Day, also known as Salt Water Day or Ocean Day, was an annual event held the second Saturday of August near Wreck Pond in Sea Girt. Farmers living twenty to thirty miles from Sea Girt came to the sea to spend a day bathing and celebrating.
